To prepare, soak the chickpeas in water overnight. Peel and chop the onion and fry in oil in a pot until golden brown. Add the tomato paste and paprika powder. Then add the soaked chickpeas and mix well. Meat can be added if desired.

In the next step, add water. Then season with salt and pepper, close the lid and simmer for 1.5 hours over medium heat. This process can be accelerated by using a pressure cooker.
